Gate City vs Sullivan North Middle School FB Game

Got to see the Gate City Middle School Game tonight and I'm not sure how good North's FB team was but Gate City won 24-0. Gate City looked "non flashy" just pounding the ball between the tackles. Gate City only run about 3 or 4 plays all night, mostly from the "I" running #10 (carried about 20 times) behind right & left tackle. The defense shut North down after North 's first drive made it inside the 10 yard line before Gate City stopped the drive. Gate City didn't seem to have any kids that had alot of speed. Gate City kids did play hard and it was good to see so many kids on the side line for Gate City.

Sounds like GC Varsity football could be back to par within the next few years if these guys stick with it.

Yeah Gate City O line really fired of the line and blocked for all the backs. Gate City has a good team. And the Varsity will be very good in the future!!!

I hope this bunch of boys stays together and plays the next 4 years for the BIG BLUE. I heard from a(D-B Soccer Dad) this week at work that one of the kids may be going to transfer to D-B to play soccer next year. After the game last night some of the fans were talking about some these kids may focus on basketball and baseball next year !! Lets hope not !

We had some kids that said they were going to just play baseball but they decided to play football next year also from what i heard!!! I also heard that all the eight graders were going to play Varsity to GC next year so maybe we will have the team in years to come.

But we really did look good last night on defense and offense? #52 Seth Clark led the defense with about 5 tackles and a pic. And Trevor Grubb picked up a fumble and took it to the house. And on offense Derek Starnes made a couple of good catch's! the DEVILS look good and I also hope they stick together!!!
